Round Lake Park Fatal Crash Involved Gangs

Rival gang member threw brick through window resulting in crash.

 

A 20-year-old Round Lake Park man is charged with aggravated battery and mob action for throwing a brick through the window of an SUV, which caused the vehicle to crash into a tree, killing one of the occupants, according to the Daily Herald.

Willie C. Davis, Jr., of the 400 block of Highmoor Drive is being held on $1 million bond in Lake County Jail.

The Daily Herald reports that the July 17 accident was the result of rival gang members chasing each other around a Round Lake Park subdivision. Rogelio Lopez, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene and the five other vehicle occupants remain hospitalized at Condell Medical Center.
