Severe Thunderstorm Warnings In Effect

The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Grayslake and throughout Lake County with winds up to 60 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning this morning, lasting until 8:30 a.m.

The warning is for Lake County, Cook County, DuPage County, northeastern Kenall County, Will County and northwestern Lake County in northwest Indiana.

The NWS issued this statement on their website: "At 7:42 a.m. CDT, the National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. These storms were located along a line extending from Twin Lakes to Wauconda to Wayne to Sugar Grove and moving east at 70 miles per hour."

Locations impacted include Grayslake, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Mundelein, Schaumburg, Venetian Village, Long Grove, Carol Stream, Roselle, Vernon Hills,  Rolling Meadows, Gages Lake,  Wheaton, Arlington Heights, Naperville, Lincolnshire, Plainfield and Gurnee.

The NWS said the severe thunderstorms can produce damaging winds, large hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain.
