Fatal Stabbing In Gurnee Caused School Lockdown, Road Closure

A suspect is in custody today Aug. 18 in Gurnee after a stabbing led to the death of one man and injuries to another, according to local media reports.

Two people suffered stab wounds near a Grand Avenue car dealership Thursday afternoon in Gurnee, and police reported that a suspect, who was also wounded, was taken into custody, according to the Lake County News-Sun.

According to a statement issued around 3 p.m. by Gurnee police, a 911 call was placed around 1:16 p.m. about “a possible shooting incident at the Anthony Auto Group dealership,” located at 7225 Grand Ave.

Officers found two three injured men at the scene, the News-Sun reported. The area was searched, and police determined the three men were the only ones involved.

Nearby Warren Township High School’s Almond campus prepared its students to be on lockdown at dismissal time after the incident.
