Summer Days Kicks off on a High Note

Enjoying time with family and friends on a beautiful night was the theme at the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce's Summer Days Friday as festivities kicked off in the municipal parking lot at Center and Seymour Avenue.

Children took part in festival games, giveaways by local businesses, and crafts by the among other booths. They had several rides to choose from including the fun slide, the dragon and the favorite pony rides. This year's horses were brought in from County Line Farm in Garden Prairie.

For the adults, live music on the stage and a nearby beer tent, plenty of favorite carnival foods like funnel cakes and icecream, hotdogs, barbeque and more.

Festivities continue Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. with a craft fair. The bike and pet parade will be at noon with lineup beginning at 11 a.m. on Slusser Street. The larger of the two parades will begin at 7 p.m. Line-up is at Grayslake Central High School and the route runs from Lake Street to Center Street and ends at Seymour Avenue at the festival site.

And, don't forget to stop by the Grayslake Heritage Center, 164 Hawley Street, Saturday where there will be a collection of 57 different major league stadium replicas on display, from the past and present. Bill Rose of McHenry Park brought his collection, as well as several team patches he has collected over the years.
