Movie Screening: Food Patriots

This is a rough-cut screening lasting approx 65-minutes, followed by discussion with the film's Director, Northbrook IL resident Jeff Spitz.

"Food Patriots" is a documentary film (inspired when Jeff's son became seriously-ill from a food-borne illiness) that shows what happens when we try to change the way we eat and buy our food, and teach the next generation.

Food Patriots are are remarkable people whose stories show what is possible in our own homes, backyards, neighborhoods, suburbs, schools, colleges, companies, and even sports teams... reviving "Victory Gardens", transforming city buses into mobile grocery stores, turning vacant city lots into thriving urban farms, and improving people's relationships with food at every level.

Their efforts, and their battles against the "factory food" mentality, have led to healthier lives, a less-polluted environment, a new sense of community in towns all over the country, and spurred the creation of thousands of jobs growing, harvesting, distributing, and preparing "Local Food".

This event is hosted by Village Homesteading Mundelein (VHM), and is FREE to the public. Please come and spend the evening finding out more about the Local Food movement, and meeting friends and neighbors involved in the effort.
