convey spiritual insights because stories catch our attention and are
multi-layered, challenging, and involving. Religious stories shape our view of the world, give it meaning, and have the power to tell profound truths simply and memorably. Jerrol Leitner examines stories and parables from Buddhism that offer
insights into the cause of human suffering and its release.

Jerrol Leitner holds an M.A. in
Theology from St. John University, Collegeville, MN; and an M.A. in English
from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL. He is retired from 40 years
of teaching English and Theology. Currently, Jerry is on the faculty at Common
Ground, a center for inquiry in culture, spirituality,

and literature in Deerfield, IL. He is a frequent speaker on spirituality,
world religions, and literary topics.
