Lake/McHenry Organizing For Action Urges
Call to Action on Gun Violence Prevention
On Wednesday, August 21st, from 6:45 AM to 9 AM, LMOFA members will hand out flyers at local Metra stations, including Fox Lake, Grayslake, Prairie Crossing, Libertyville, Waukegan and North Chicago. The information details statistics that put America way out front in a race that we surely do not want to win. Gun homicides yearly average less than 50 in Japan and fewer that 150 in Germany, Italy, and France. To the north, Canada averages less that 200 deaths annually by gun violence. The United States stands at more than 10,000 gun deaths a year.
Think about it, and then stand with the 92% of Americans who support universal background checks. Arm yourself with the facts. Do not back away from the fact that "no background check" sales account for an estimated 40% of gun sales in the U.S. Of guns used in crimes, police report that 60% are traced back to only 1% of gun dealers.
