Senator Bush to hold groundbreaking ceremony for Illinois Beach State Park Shoreline Stabilization Project

Illinois State Senator Melinda Bush (D–Grayslake) will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Illinois Beach State Park Shoreline Stabilization Project next Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

Senator Bush, along with Representative JoAnne Osmond (R-Gurnee), the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Illinois Capitol Development Board, will break ground on the $1.3 million shoreline stabilization project at 11:00 a.m.

The project is intended to keep Lake Michigan from consuming a parking lot located at North Point marina, as well as protecting the beach from eroding completely into the water. The addition of a man-made reef will help reduce sand erosion and bolster the environmental integrity of the Lake Michigan shoreline, allowing visitors to continue enjoying it for years to come.
