Student Grants Awarded to Twelve Science Olympiads

Foundation46 awarded twelve grants to students attending Park, Frederick, and Grayslake Middle School this month to offset participation fees for the Science Olympiad program. The Foundation also awarded grants to seven students for their participation in Fun Fluency Spanish earlier this school year.

Student applicants submitted essays expressing interest in the sciences as well as the desire to be a part of an academic team and to learn with a hands-on approach. They expressed their aspirations to test theories and explore new ideas. Many students mentioned their desire to compete in years past, but an inability to do so because of costs. Students also expressed a responsibility to help manage family expenses by applying for the grant.

Foundation46 Directors were joined by the following community leaders in reviewing the applications:

Foundation46 is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose vision is that all D46 students have exposure to a wide variety of educational experiences that will prepare them to become life-long learners and to fulfill their individual dreams and passions. Ensuring that students are not kept away from enriching extra-curricular activities such as Fun Fluency Spanish, Science Olympiad and Scholastic Bowl because of fees is a significant step toward realizing this vision. Thank you to all of our supporters for making our student enrichment grant program possible!
