Here's the Pitch: Raise Your Game with a Winning Communications Strategy

“Here’s the Pitch: Raise Your Game with a Winning Communications Strategy,” a free workshop for public relations professionals, will take place on Friday, May 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Viking Park Dance Hall, 4374 Old Grand Avenue in Gurnee. Hosted by the Public Relations Council of Lake County, the workshop will include presentations on the latest social media marketing trends as well as a media panel made up of local reporters, editors and producers.

 

Leading off the workshop will be social media marketing presentations by Lizzie Childers, marketer from the Great Lakes Credit Union; Jennifer Gilbert, marketing/public relations manager with the Gurnee Park District; and Anthony Haag, marketing manager with Visit Lake County. Childers will discuss how to develop a powerful social media campaign and strategy. Haag will address new technology and trends and how to incorporate them into a current strategy. Gilbert will close by providing tips on how to keep score of online efforts. The panel will be moderated by David Motley, director of public relations and marketing for the city of Waukegan.

The second half of the workshop will include a panel of local media managers and reporters who will discuss best practices for building relationships with the media as the media industry continues to evolve. Panel participants include: Pete Nenni, Lake County manager/editor with the Daily Herald; Claudia Banks, north suburban news editor for Chicago Tribune and Triblocal; Tara Tesimu, regional editor with Patch; Linda Siete, manager of sales/operations with Reflejos; Beth Kramer, a news reporter with the News-Sun; and Paul Lepek, a talk show host and producer with WRLR-FM radio.
