Six $1,500.00 Scholarships Awarded to Local Students By Consumers Cooperative Association
Grayslake, IL, April 17, 2012: Six $1500.00 scholarships were recently awarded to local students in the Lake County area by Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA,), the sponsor of Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $585 MM, Waukegan IL). The High School students received their scholarships at the joint Annual Meeting of the two organizations in mid-march. Each recipient may use the scholarship at the college or university of her/his choice.
“The Association takes great pride in assisting local students who are genuinely interested in pursuing their degrees,” noted Elizabeth (Liz) Oldham, Consumers Cooperative Association President. “We understand the importance of education and the positive impact it can have on a young person’s life. We are confident our winners will use the funds wisely and look forward to hearing success stories as they pursue their goals and dreams.”
The 2012 scholarship was awarded to students from six Lake County high schools. The Winners include Jessica Velazquez, Waukegan High School; Leah M. Pranke, Antioch Community High School; Paul H. Carey, Shoreland Lutheran High School; Sandra U. Omorogieva, Zion Benton High School; Abigail P. Monsalud Carmel Catholic High School; and Edian Banuelos, Round Lake Senior High School.

“Scholarship awards to our leaders of tomorrow is a perfect investment,” said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU President. “Consumers Cooperative Association’s Scholarship Program provides a wonderful opportunity to do just that. Their positive support for our young people will have a lasting effect on our success within the community.
