Frederick School Students Raise Money for Racho Family

The Racho family lost their Hainesville home to a fire in October.

When the children in Gayla King's sixth grade class at Frederick School learned about the tragedy experienced by the Racho family of Hainesville, they decided they wanted to help.

The Racho family lost their home to a fire in October.

Sixty Frederick School students participated in a read-a-thon, collecting pledges from friends and family. They ultimately collected $600, which they presented to the Racho family Dec. 6.

"The kids wanted to do something nice for you all," King told Lieka and Eric Racho. "We hope it helps."

Lieka was visibly moved by the gesture.

"This is wonderful, really," said Lieka, whose son attends Frederick. "We really appreciate every single thing that this school, the staff and students—everything you've given us. It's just wonderful to see the support is still there."
