Grayslake North Grad Recognized as Hometown Hero

Congratulations, Danny Murayama!

A Grayslake North High School graduate has been recognized by the Round Lake Area Exchange Club and NICASA as the November hometown hero.

U.S. Army Private First Class Danny Murayama is the son of Jesse and Becky Murayama also from Round Lake Beach. He has been in the Army for more than a year and a half and works with patriot missiles, according to the Round Lake area Exchange Club. He is serving in Jordan.

As part of his recognition as the November hometown hero, Danny will receive a care package filled with candy bars, Slim Jims, and other snacks and treats thanks to NICASA, this month's sponsor. He will also receive a "Hanging with the Heroes" t-shirt donated by Artrageous of Hainesville, along with letters from Round Lake Area School District 116 students and a rosary from the Legion of Mary at St. Joseph's in Round Lake.

Residents of the Round Lake area, Hainesville, Fox Lake, Ingleside and other surrounding communities can nominate military personnel serving overseas or in the United States by visiting the Round Lake Area Exchange Club website. Contact Sherry Ridge at (847) 740-2379 for more information.
