Local Daisy Scouts Collecting Toys for Needy Children

The toy drive is a joint effort with Second Chance Toys.

Girls Scouts Daisy Troop 40533 of Grayslake is teaming up with Second Chance Toys to make the holiday season brighter for children in need.

The troop is collecting clean, gently-used plastic toys on three days—Nov. 9, 16 and 23—for Second Chance Toys. The organization aims to not only help children but also the environment by keeping plastic toys out of landfills.

"Help make less-fortunate children happy with a toy this holiday season," said Justine Marie, a Daisy Troop 40533 parent. "It is too easy not to!"

Toys should have no small or missing parts, with loose pieces in a plastic bag taped to the toy. Any batteries should work.

The toys can be dropped off at the Grayslake Fire Station No. 1 Training Room, 160 Hawley St., between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 9, 16 and 23.
