Police Sgt. Joe Holtz Recognized for 15 Years of Service

The Grayslake Village Board also recognized Bill Roberts for his six years of service on the Police Pension Board.

In Police Chief Phil Perlini's opinion, Police Sgt. Joe Holtz "is one of those guys who's managed to have a 30-year career in 15."

Holtz has been a member of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (N.I.P.A.S.), which Perlini likened to a SWAT team, for 13 years, and he also trains people in other states in combat shooting.

"He's obviously a respected member of the department," Perlini said. As he recognized Holtz for his 15 years of service to the Grayslake Police Department, Perlini noted that many members of the department were in attendance at Tuesday night's village board meeting to celebrate their colleague.

"Thank you for your service, Joe," said Perlini.

Holtz introduced his family, thanking them for their dedication and understanding.

"I have had a very exciting career so far," said Holtz.

Mayor Rhett Taylor also took time to recognize Bill Roberts, who served on the Grayslake Police Pension Board for six years. Police Pension Board members, Taylor said, are citizen volunteers who work to make sure the village's pension funding is adequate.

"I appreciate the time he spent with us," said Taylor. "Thank you very much for your service."
