GCNS 2014-2015 Class Offerings

The Grayslake Cooperative Nursery School (GCNS) is excited to offer a NEW class for the 2014-2015 school year!  The class is designed for 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children, and it will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning in September.

The 3/4/5 class will offer the opportunity for both the younger and older students to gain skills from each other in a supportive environment.  This classroom setting will benefit the children by resembling family and neighborhood groups, and  it will provide enriched opportunities for socialization and education.  Activities and learning will be tailored to ability as ALL students will learn at their own level.  Skills will be taught in a play-based environment through monthly themes.  Apples, pumpkins, farms, gingerbread, dinosaurs and butterflies are just some of the exciting topics that will be covered.  The class will also offer the option to loop.

As the oldest cooperative nursery school in the area, GCNS offers a variety of class options for children between the ages of 3 and 6.  The 2014-2015 school year will mark the school’s 39th year in the community.  GCNS is located off of Route 137 at The Shops of Prairie Crossing in Grayslake.

Classes are taught by certified teachers, but as a cooperative, parents and staff work together to provide children with a positive school experience.  As educational research consistently demonstrates, parental involvement in schools is an essential element in childhood success in school—and GCNS takes that message to heart as parents and educators are dedicated to developing children academically, emotionally, socially and physically in a nurturing, family-focused environment.
