On Sunday 9th June the Grayslake Galaxy Soccer Club completed another successful spring season. Congratulations to the following squads for their achievements this season:
- U12 Boys - YSSL Division 6 Champions
- U11 Boys - YSSL Division 7 Champions
- U10 Boys – YSSL Division 5 Runners Up
- U9 Boys – Grove United Memorial Day Shootout Red Flight Winners
- U11 Girls – Grove United Memorial Day Shootout Red Flight Winners
- U14 Boys – TFA United Tournament Blue Flight Winners
“Despite some disruption caused by the poor weather at the beginning of the season our teams and players have done well throughout the 10 weeks” said GGSC Director of Coaching Liam Lacy. “A big thank you needs to go to Lord of Glory Church for giving us access to their gym which allowed us to continue practicing when other local clubs had to cancel due to a lack of indoor space. This, coupled with our highly successful pre-season scrimmage event at Alleghany Park, helped us to prepare for the season ahead and gave us a platform to build on.”
With the 2012-2013 soccer year now finished attention immediately switches to plans for Fall 2013 and beyond. “For tryouts this year we had almost 300 players attend which was more than we have ever had before. We are confident that the teams we are currently finalizing will give those involved the chance to develop their skills and ability at an appropriate level under the guidance of one of our USSF qualified staff” said Lacy.

For the new season Grayslake Galaxy are also in the process of expanding their popular Pre Travel Program after a good turnout at the sessions in the fall, indoor and spring. This program is mainly for U8-U10 recreational players who wish to participate in activities and sessions with one of their professional trainers. These sessions are age appropriate and are designed to develop player’s technical skills and tactical understanding in an enjoyable environment where the focus is on performance and not results.
