Grayslake District 46 School Board Sends Ethics Findings to Lake County State’s Attorney

On Wednesday night the Grayslake District 46 School Board voted 5-2 to send the findings of Special Investigator Hon. Henry Tonigan to the Lake County State’s Attorney.

On Wednesday night the Grayslake District 46 School Board voted 5-2 to send the findings of Special Investigator Hon. Henry Tonigan to the Lake County State’s Attorney.  This case has been ongoing for nearly a year and revolves around the use of taxpayer resources by Superintendent Ellen Correll, other administration, and staff members in an effort to elect incumbent school board members, Sue Facklam and Mary Garcia.

The original complaint information and emails that started the investigation can be found at http://lakecountyteaparty.com/2011/05/03/crimes-corruption-and-lies-in-grayslake-d46/

The emails, via a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA), showed blatant disregard for the voters of the district. This case has already produced a reprimand for Superintendent Ellen Correll, an investigation by the Cook County State's Attorney and election law felonies by a School Board member Sue Facklam.

In addition to this case being finally turned over to the State’s Attorney, staff will be trained in the proper use of taxpayer resources. There is also an ongoing court case over missing emails related to this case. This case will take several more months to be resolved fully.

Thank you Lennie for personally causing the school district to spend tons of extra money. The tax portion of my mortgage will always have a note at the bottom cursing you. Side note - is this a news article? Does it show leadership? No. It is a self promotion of your lame website.
Lennie Jarratt April 21, 2012 at 05:17 PM
The district caused all the cost. As stated many times before, I tried to work with the board to get this case to the State's Attorney a year ago and THEY refused. THEY chose to spend all the money. THEY chose to behave unethically and in some case criminally.
Sully April 21, 2012 at 05:48 PM
You'd think with all the money they stole, Correll and Garcia would be moving to Lake Forest or Winnetka and retiring into a life of perpetual luxury. They surely did whatever they did just for their own financial benefit. Offering 18 years olds incentives to register to vote is obviously the way to go to make your fortune. Lennie, rules were broken, okay? Is this an absolute catastrophe for Grayslake students? No. What else do you want? Correll is still going to be superintendent, and Carbone will still be on the board leading the way of dissent. Go waste somebody else's time. District 46 meanwhile, will continue to provide a quality education for its students.

Sully, why don't you mind your own business? You don't live in D46, or Grayslake, or even Lake County. What is your creepy obsession with our kids and schools?
Sully April 21, 2012 at 07:12 PM
Has anyone considered that maybe I have business in Lake County and know several of the staff and students in the district? No, I guess not.
Brad Faxton April 21, 2012 at 08:18 PM
Hey bully - I live here and I have an obsession with my kids education. Sully is always welcome here. I'm standing up to our behavior.
Brad Faxton April 21, 2012 at 08:20 PM
**YOU** chose to dig up the nastyness and keep on putting it front and center. Your watchdoggieness ain't needed anymore. This is hardly a newsworthy article.

Why don't you want people held accountable for unethical or illegal behavior? It makes me wonder why you protest so much and want the investigation to stopped before it is completed.
Lennie Jarratt April 21, 2012 at 08:57 PM
I have stated many times Sully that all I wanted was a complete and thorough investigation. To date, it is not completed. It has yet to be thorough. Hopefully, the State's Atty will finally take care of that so everyone can move on. It's interesting that the State's Atty already has another open investigation into D46 over a consulting contract.

Lennie, there is no evidence to suggest you have an end game. You began your crusade before this specific incident, you've continued it long after it should have been over, and you will continue to dig for more once this is over. That's your pattern and there's no reason to believe that will change.

Ooh, Brad, you're such a tough guy, you scared me. Twit. As for sully, sorry, but your interest goes way beyond casual. You post over and over and over on every thread. It is extremely weird, and creepy. I hope they never find you lurking around the school.

I have no idea what Lennie will do, but here is my take on it, in your own tweaked words. "Sully, there is no evidence to suggest there is an end game. They began their games before this specific incident, and they have continued it long after it should have been over, and they might continue to do more once this is over. That's their pattern and there's no reason to believe that will change." But, there's hope that it will, and they appear to be a lot more careful now. Let's hope that they won't continue to allegedly abuse the system, but I am not holding my breath. As long as they feel they can get away with this, there is no reason to stop. Let's hope this is the end game.

@Sully, I will continue until their is open and honest gov't. It really is that simple. Second, since I have done so much research now and discovered the unequal treatment of children, I also started initiatives at the State level to ensure ever child gets access to a quality education. I know that this may seem hard for you to understand, but if you read up on me, you will see that I started 8 years ago just asking simple questions to see how money was being spent and if the district truly needed a referendum. Within weeks I was intimidated and have since been bullied, slandered, libeled, had my job threatened, etc. I am not one of the typical people who shrink back into the comfort of their lives when bullied. I stand up and fight for what is right. I have continued to research and to stand up to the bullies who do not want open and honest gov't. I have stood up and fought against those that don't want all children to have access to a quality education. I will continue to do this as I have stated, even in the face of continued threats from bullies. Parents deserve better. Taxpayers deserve better. Teachers deserve better. Most of all, the children deserve better. I welcome the help of anyone who wants to see ALL parents empowered to make their children get a quality education.

their* should be there in the first sentence
Brad Faxton April 23, 2012 at 12:38 AM
Any reason you can't continue this at the state level? I ***LIKE*** the idea of having better controls (at the state level) for silly stuff like this. I like having better election controls. I like having a fair playing field for all. You have my endorsement - do this at the state level.
Brad Faxton April 23, 2012 at 12:41 AM
YES!!! At the state level. TAKE IT TO THE STATE LEVEL to create better controls across the state. Stop trying to pick the scab when you know it will keep bleeding over and over. A ***TRUE*** leader (or representative from this area) would champion state legislation for better controls. but..........at the state level. Please.

Lenny: Where do you live and have you looked at the School District there? Better yet, have you look at the Lake County States Attorney and our Current Sheriff Waller. How much money are their "errors" and misjudgements going to cost the tax payers? It will cost millions for the wrongful convections due to Lake County States Attorney not doing his job properly. In addition, murders and rapists are still out there. Sheirff Waller has people being killed in jail. How much will this cost the tax payers? How many lives need to be lost? Does District #46 have issues? I wouldn't know. I live in another school district. But what I do know is that going after large corrpution and waste of tax dollars should come first. Awaiting your finding about out Lake County justice system.
