Grayslake District 46 School Board Sends Ethics Findings to Lake County State’s Attorney

On Wednesday night the Grayslake District 46 School Board voted 5-2 to send the findings of Special Investigator Hon. Henry Tonigan to the Lake County State's Attorney.

On Wednesday night the Grayslake District 46 School Board voted 5-2 to send the findings of Special Investigator Hon. Henry Tonigan to the Lake County State’s Attorney.  This case has been ongoing for nearly a year and revolves around the use of taxpayer resources by Superintendent Ellen Correll, other administration, and staff members in an effort to elect incumbent school board members, Sue Facklam and Mary Garcia.

The original complaint information and emails that started the investigation can be found at http://lakecountyteaparty.com/2011/05/03/crimes-corruption-and-lies-in-grayslake-d46/

The emails, via a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA), showed blatant disregard for the voters of the district. This case has already produced a reprimand for Superintendent Ellen Correll, an investigation by the Cook County State's Attorney and election law felonies by a School Board member Sue Facklam.

In addition to this case being finally turned over to the State’s Attorney, staff will be trained in the proper use of taxpayer resources. There is also an ongoing court case over missing emails related to this case. This case will take several more months to be resolved fully.
