Sam Yingling: Promise Made, Promise NOT Kept – Budget Deficit of $250K

Yingling claims to “post a record surplus last fiscal year”, but records show the fiscal year ending in Feb. 2012 had a deficit of $253,520.

In the previous article the discussion was about Sam Yingling not keeping his promise on returning his salary. This article is about his failure to keep his budget promises and once again exposing the fact that he has not told the residents of Avon Township the truth.

In the third paragraph of the Avon Township website [shown at bottom of page], Yingling claims to “post a record surplus last fiscal year”. The problem again is Avon Township in their fiscal year ending in Feb. 2012 shows a deficit of $253,520

In addition when Yingling took the reigns at Avon Townships, there were mass firings, that appeared to be political in nature. The fired employees sued for wrongful termination and won a settlement of $450,000. The settlement proves these firings were political and just another example of Chicago style politics coming to Lake County. The Daily Herald Editorial Board even called this a “patronage settlement“.

Jarrett clearly has no idea about economics. I looked at the financial statement (here and on the Avon Township website) and see a "burn-off" of accumulated reserves(from years and years of flying under the radar). Taxing us, not spending our money and building reserves is something that local government does so prominently here in GOP controlled Lake County. How do you think Yingling has been able to reduce property taxes? He is burning off reserves from the previous administrations and giving the people a tax break. Thank you Mr. Yingling. Jarratt, if you look at any of the Daily Herald articles about the firings, they had nothing to do with Yingling, but the Assessor of those days. Even your link say nothing about Yingling but does talk about the Assessor of those days. What you prove Jarratt is that you clearly are afraid of change. As a Tea Party advocate, you should be embracing Yingling's message of accountability and reform. But no, if it is coming from a Democrats it just can't be good. You are classic of what is wrong in Lake County and your own failed campaign shows you are out of touch, mis-informed and vindictive.

@Sean a few points: 1. You stated, ""burn-off" of accumulated reserves" - The Avon Twsp website stated "Record Surplus", which as I pointed out was incorrect. Than you for confirming this. 2. You stated, "no idea about economics" then went on toto about financial statements. Economics is not the same as budgets or financial statements so you statement is incorrect to begin with. 3. On you point about the settlement and firings, as stated in the article, "The Daily Herald Editorial Board even called this a “patronage settlement“."

The Tea Party stands for Llimited Gov't and Fiscal Responsibility. Limited Gov't - This means smaller gov't that is run transparently and efficiently. With Yingling putting his salary into a private foundation outside of public view and outside the elected official he fails this standard. Fiscal Responsibility - From a local gov't perspective this means stopping the ever increasing property taxes while ensuring the taxing body is fiscally sustainable. While Sam has stopped the tax increase and even lowered them, his deficit spending is not fiscally sustainable and portends a looming disaster to Avon Twsp. I know many want to claim, like you have, that the Tea Party is uncompromising and wants to get rid of gov't. Neither is true. The majority of tea party activists are willing to work with others to find REAL solutions. They also know SOME gov't is neccessary, but they want the parts that are UNneccessary eliminated. OVER taxation and OVER regulation are detrimental to business growth and thus jobs. Illinois is the poster state for both. causing 1 person to leave the state every 10 minutes (some are saying faster now) and over $25 Billion in taxable income. I am not afraid of change and we certainly need a lot of change here in IL starting with removing Michael Madigan from the being Speaker of the House. You see, I understand the difference between good and bad change. I want GOOD CHANGE.

1 person to leave the state every 10 mins. Gosh, I wish one of them was you. Heck, you can find a dandy of a house in WI, the taxes are virtually nothing (which you would love). The flipside is the schools are HORRIBLE and everything is very disjointed. I'll go there for fireworks and beer - that is just about it.

Vindictive. What an awesome word. Lennie is very vindictive.

And now you and your silly propiganda can go away. Sam won. Oh, Joe Walsh lost. Obama won. What an epic day!

As always, you are incorrect. The truth is not propaganda. My work is always about principles and I will continue to work to expose corruption and wasteful spending. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am not afraid of bullies who spread lies and intimidate.
Benjamin Dover November 07, 2012 at 08:12 PM
Speaking of spreading lies....You still can't back up your outrageous statements about Judge Mullen can you...you just made up lies to fit your narrative. You try so hard to play the victim (how very liberal of you), yet you are nothing but a liar and (wannabe) bully yourself. You reek of hypocrisy.

We’re not quite at that http://www.coachfactoryoutletonlinebc.org stage yet. But we may be on the right path. To my mind, though, his work shines a light on a bigger story about our future relationship http://www.coachoutletonlinelc.net with technology, and in particular on a vision of progress http://www.coachoutletonlinelon.com where there’s an increasingly clear divide between those http://www.coachoutletonlinelsa.com endeavours that can safely be left to humans, and those where http://www.coachoutletdt.net machines and mathematics are preferable. It’s something that http://www.louisvuittonoutletcft.net is already happening. Oh let me guess...you didn't vote for Yingling, eh? Have you happened to notice that no one voted for you - or pretty much any of the candidates that you support? Go get a real job instead of writing blogs, then maybe you can afford to pay your mortgage and taxes.

It is always interesting the see the compassion (NOT) of those left of center.
