Bikes, Sweet Treats, Hitchcock And More At The Library

Unique Spring programs offered at the Grayslake Public Library.

The is offering the following programs for youth, teens and adults of all ages.

Showcase Project Fair - Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m.

Project fairs needn’t be restricted to science. Come share and showcase your favorite history, geography, sports, science or art project that you enjoyed exploring this school year. Time will be given for oral presentations and table space will be provided to display your project. For students in grades K-8. Stop by or call the library’s Youth Services Department for more information.

Bike It To The Library - Saturday, May 12 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

May is National Bike Month! Come celebrate with stories about bikes. Then learn a few tips on bicycle safety. Lastly, we'll provide the materials to decorate your own bike. Don't forget to bring your bike. If you're riding your bike to the library, wear a helmet and plan on locking your bike on one of our bike racks. For kids in grades K-2. Registration required.

Sweet Treats Decorating Program for Mother’s Day - Saturday, May 12 from 2-4 p.m.

Surprise Mom or a loved one with a few decorated and boxed treats that you’ll take home for Mother’s Day. Deena Stovall of Catered 4 You will teach us how to decorate petits fours, cookies and more. For teens in grades 7-12.

This Is Your Museum With Diane Dretske - Tuesday, May 15 at 10 a.m.

This presentation will give an overview of the Lake County Discovery Museum and its’ change from a private museum in Wadsworth in 1957 to a public museum nationally accredited by the American Association of Museums. Unique objects and archival collections in the museum’s care will be highlighted, especially in relation to Lake County’s rich history. Diane will also discuss the museum’s plans for its upcoming move to Libertyville.

Alfred Hitchcock Film Series - Friday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m.

To Catch a Thief: This romantic thriller starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly comes from the David Dodge novel of the same name, and the wonderful imaginings of Alfred Hitchcock. The story follows a string of jewel robberies, a retired jewel thief, and intrigue on the French Riviera.
