It was fun for all as the Easter bunny joined in the Culver's-sponsored ice cream social and the Easter egg hunt at the Grayslake Park District Rec Center on March 31.

The simple joys of hunting for Easter eggs was evident on the faces of kids at the annual egg hunt and ice cream social.

"My kids were very excited for the egg hunt," said Erin Eriksen of Grayslake, who was busy with her husband Matt to help their three kids - Jacob, 5, Ella, 3 and Trey, 1 - find their eggs.

This was the first year the Grayslake Park District had numbered the eggs and given each child a specific number. They kids then had to find their own eggs on March 31. They also partnered with Grayslake Culver's for an ice cream social with the Easter bunny.

Parents said it was a fun event, made more challenging by the search for numbered eggs.

"Searching for the correct numbers was a good challenge for my 5 year old, but not so easy for my 3 year old," said Erin Eriksen, as she took a break from trying to help all of her children find their eggs. "Still, it's fun. And they loved having the ice cream social."

Tracy Putkonen, recreation supervisor, said they had about 54 kids participate in the Easter egg event.

"The ice cream social was a big hit," she said. "Everyone had fun with it."
