Interfaith Blood Drive To Be Held Sunday At Wildwood Presbyterian Church

The second annual "Muslims for Life" blood donation campaign, in collaboration with the American Red Cross and Wildwood Presbyterian Church, will be held Sunday.

An interfaith Muslim/Christian American Red Cross blood drive will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, in the gym of , located at 18630 W. Old Gages Lake Rd., Grayslake.

Muslims for Life, a nationwide campaign to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has a goal to collect 11,000 units of blood to reiterate that Islam values the sanctity of life. Zion's Muslim community is also participating in this campaign.

Last year generous donors gave over 10,000 pints of lifesaving blood nationally.

“Blood is a perishable product that can only come from generous volunteer blood donors, there simply is no substitute,” said Shelly Heiden, CEO of the American Red Cross Heart of American Blood Services Region. “By donating blood, you can make a difference in the lives of patients in your community and throughout the nation.”
