Dora A. Betancourt Enjoyed Sports, Art and Being Outdoors

Services have been scheduled for Dora A. Betancourt.

Funeral service for Dora A. Betancourt, 11, is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 501 W. Park Ave. Libertyville. Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 28 from 2-8 p.m. at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 West Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Rt. 45 on Rt. 176) Mundelein and two hours prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Interment is pending.

She was born Dec. 19, 2002 in Lake Forest and died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at home. Dora was a 5th-grader at St. John’s Lutheran School in Libertyville. She was an active member of the church and school participating in the Junior Choir and Girl’s Pioneers. She was a cheerleader for the Lake County Stallions. Dora enjoyed making Rainbow Loom Bands, being outdoors, sports and was a detailed artist.

She is survived by her parents David and Dawn (nee Knauf) Betancourt, her sister Aurora Knauf-Strom, paternal grandparents Frank and Dora Betancourt, maternal grandfather James Knauf, and many aunts, uncles cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Jane Knauf. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being set up.
