Mildred “Rusty” Canty

Mrs. Mildred “Rusty” Canty, 84, of Ingleside, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, at Manor Care in Libertyville. Rusty was born on Jan. 14, 1928, and raised in Newton, Iowa. She and her husband Herb married on June 5, 1948. They resided in Grayslake for many years before making their home in Ingleside. After her husband’s passing in 1981, Rusty remained in their home until her passing on Thanksgiving Day.

Rusty and Herb owned and operated Herb’s Drive In from 1957 to 1968 on Route 120 in Grayslake. After the sale of their business, she worked for several companies pursuing a career in real estate. A patriot, she was interested and involved in politics and served for several years as an Election Judge. After her retirement, Rusty began tutoring at the College of Lake County, teaching a multitude of subjects including History and the Constitution, and assisting many students in getting their GED. This brought her untold pleasure and satisfaction for the past twenty years.

Rusty Canty cherished family and is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: eldest son Dr. Timothy C. Canty, DDS (wife: Patricia Canty, RN, MSN) of Libertyville and their children Matt Canty, Sarah Canty-Hemenover (husband: Matt Hemenover and their two sons Mason and Ryan) and Dr. David Canty, DMD, and the late Sean Canty; twin sons Mitchell R. Canty of Reynoldsburg, OH and his children Eric Canty (Wife: Laura Canty), Mark Canty, Brett Canty-Way (husband: Nick Way), Chris Canty and Megan Canty; and twin Michael R. Canty (wife: Michele Canty) of Bentleyville, OH, and their daughter Alexis Canty; and Rusty and Herb’s daughter, Lisa Jo Canty-Martino (Husband: Nick Martino) of Benicia, CA. Interment was at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.

Lorret Petersen

Lorett Petersen, a resident of Volo, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the age of 89. She was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Lake County to Harry and Catherine Thomas. Lorett is survived by her children Kandis (Don) Nissen, Thomas T. “Rob” (Mary) Petersen, Robert T. “Pete” (Micelle) Petersen, Robert Scott (Dawn) Petersen, and Robert Bradley (Linda Lee) Petersen, her grandchildren Cory(Erica) Nissen, Montana Petersen, Shane Petersen, Cassidy Petersen, Gregg Petersen, Nikki Petersen, Jenny Sweeney, Jeffrey Robert Petersen, Neil Thomas Petersen, and Willie Petersen, her great-grandchildren Connor and Petyon Nissen and Ethan and Spencer Sweeney her ex-husband Robert Petersen, and her brother Harry Thomas. Friends of the family may visit on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 from noon until 2:30 p.m. with a celebration of Lorett’s life commencing at 3 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Interment will held privately. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Northern Illinois Hospice.

Peggy L. Klask

Peggy L. Klask, a 40-year resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Sunday Nov. 25 at the age of 67. She was born Dec. 3, 1944, in Chicago to Louis and Agnes Bensinger. Peggy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Klask Sr., her father Louis Bensinger, her children Joseph (Pam) Klask Jr., Lisa (Brad) Burling, David Klask, Laura (Larry Mikel) Klask, Michelle (Aaron) Warning, and Felicia Klask, her grandchildren Rebekka, Jessica, Erica, Christina, Cody, Stephanie, Sarah, Rodney, David, Angelica, Kyle, and Alexis, and great-grandchildren Ryan, Kenneth, Cavan, and Cole, her sisters Marcia (Paul) Jay, and Barbara (Willy) Dahmen, and her nieces and nephews Chris, Nick, Tiffany, Holly, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother Alan. Interment was at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.

Florence Bartsch

Florence Bartsch, 96, of Round Lake Beach, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She is survived by d Lenore Wojianek (Michael) , Grandmother of Kim Maatta (Marlin), Scott Wesolek,J eff Wesolek (Denise), Steven Wesolek (Laura), Matthew Wojtanek, Marnie Wojtanek, and great- grandchildren Ashley, Timothy, Abagail, Elizabeth, Ryan, Kami, T.J and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her huband of 50 years, Earl P. Bartsch, who died in 1997. Daughter Carolyn (Len), who passed away in 1998; Lee Quimby (Brother-in law); and Lorraine Quimby (sister). Florence will be missed by all of us. A funeral service was held Dec. 2 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst, with interment held privately at St. Joseph.
