Obituary: Jimmy “James” R. Romich

Services will be held May 2 for Army veteran Jimmy "James" R. Romich.

Jimmy “James” R. Romich, a 70-year-old Round Lake Heights resident, passed away at home late Friday night, April 26, 2013.

He was born in Boise, ID on May 26, 1942 to the now late Mike and Pauline (nee Paddock) Romich.  Jim served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a former advisor for the Round Lake Beach Police Cadets, a long-time volunteer/caretaker for Spay and Stay in Grayslake, and one of the original members of the Round Lake Area Mobile Eye.

He is survived by Madelene, his wife of 34 years, whom he wed on July 29, 1978 in Grayslake; his children Jaime Holub, Bud (Bonnie) Kowalski, Wayne (Andrea) Kowalski, Julie Paddock, Trisha Peck, and Julianna Romich; his grandchildren Steven, Alex, Katie, Austin, Allison, Guiliano, and David; one great-grandchild; his siblings Donalee, Johnnie, and Sandy; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His brother Mike preceded him in death.

Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., with the funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Avon Centre Cemetery in Grayslake.
