Richard Stephen Merker Loved Fishing, Baking

Richard Stephen Merker a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away Monday Sept. 16, 2013 at the age of 64.

He was born Sept. 30, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Leo and Delores (nee: Borscha) Merker. Richard was a member of the Jay Cees. He loved to fish, bake, and was a lover of animals. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Merker, whom he wed on Oct. 1, 1966 in Chicago, his daughter Sandra Merker of Lake Zurich, his sister Kathleen Uptagraw of Wisconsin, and his brother James Merker of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Michelle Lange.

Friends of the family may visit Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 from 4 until 8 p.m. at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights, IL.
