Would You Go Back To High School Again?

I would return to High School -- this way I would do everything differently !!!

I was fortunate enough to grow up in the south suburban village of Park Forest, a town that literally grew out of cornfields and within ten years had grown to over 16,000 residents. By the time I entered high school the village was just entering its' teenage years. The entire community was like one giant family, nobody locked their doors, there wasn't any crime to speak of and going to high school was like attending with your family. It was one of the premier times of my life, full of exploration, reaching for new goals and ideas, living on the fast track and never a dull moment.
The teachers were there to help the students get to where ever they wanted to go, their support was solid, deep and sincere. They were their because they loved their profession. Most of the teachers were drawn to the school system because it was a merit based system and they all worked to excell. Would I go back? In a heartbeat.

I would return to high school, but just for a little bit. I'd pay a little more attention in class, and cherish the time with my lifelong friends that I get to see much too rarely now. :)

Knowing what I know now? Hell yes I'd go back. I'd actually read the books assigned in class instead of having to go back and read them in college. I'd work a little harder at staying out of trouble. And, most importantly, I'd skip the cafeteria hamburgers with those weird little white kernels or seeds that you'd bite into every once in a while.

No, I went to an all-girl Catholic High School. It was a supportive environment, but not too exciting. I would like to go back to college though, knowing what I now know. But then, it's like one of those movies, different choices lead to different outcomes and everything changes and you might not have your loved ones . . .

That would mean going back to rural Maine... no thank you! But, high school was fun!

I agree with Tina. Just for a little bit. I would go out for different sports and probably still hate math.

Definitely not. I was always very shy and therefore didn't have many friends in high school.

I would only go back for the after-school hours of high school. Actual school hours were too hard, too much of studying ancient history and math.

Bob, sounds like a great environment! I grew up in Traer, a tiny town (pop. 1,200) in NE Iowa. I'm sure that is way smaller than what Park Forest used to be, but it made high school really easy to get involved - in everything! I loved it and had friends in a wide variety of groups. But it also was a very small world where you knew everyone, and everyone knew everything about you. I couldn't wait to go to college at the Univ. of Iowa. So yes, I would go back to high school for just a little bit, but would love to go back to college!

I was not able to go to HS because my mother, afraid of dying, wanted to leave me prepared to take care of myself. She sent me to secretarial school. The training was useful, I never lacked for work, but I was not a well educated person. Eventually I got my GED, graduated with honors from the university. But, not long ago, I tutored a foreign student in HS. I was so fascinated with what he was learning, I do wish I could enroll and study all those fascinating things he learned.

my experience wasn't a bad one, but i wouldn't want to repeat it. it was an all-male school with strong emphasis on academics, which was excellent preprataion for college. but the fact that i can't recall any fun gatherings with classmates tells me that it was a lonely time. i understand that the social side can grow out of proper proportion, but for me it was non-existent. wouldn't want that for any kid.

Bob, I grew up in Park Forest too and agree that it was a terrific town. Would I go back? No, because its not the same anymore. But I will cherish the memories of Rich South HS.

I would absolutely go back but only if I knew what I know now. Things would be so different...Proud Huntley High School Graduate

I would go back.,...with all the knowledge of what I know NOW! LOL!
