Abandoned House Involved in Wednesday Morning Blaze a Total Loss
The fire occurred on the property of the Countryside Landfill, fire officials said.
Fire and police officials are investigating the cause of a fire that occurred Wednesday morning on the property of the Countryside Landfill off of Route 83.
Grayslake Deputy Fire Chief Greg Formica said the fire occurred in an abandoned house on the property.
"The building was fully involved in fire on arrival," said Formica. "Access to the scene was limited because of the location of the fire."
He added that the building, which had not been occupied for many years, was a total loss.
Patch received a dispatch alert about the fire just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
