Cops, Donuts And Donations

The annual "Cop on a Roof" fundraiser, benefitting Special Olympics, will be held from 5 a.m.-2 p.m. June 1 at Dunkin Donuts on Route 45 in Third Lake.

Lake County Sheriff's deputies will hang out at the donut shop on Friday. But it is all for a good cause.

They will participate in the "Cop on a Roof" fundraiser for the Special Olympics at the Dunkin Donuts, 34484 N. Route 45, Third Lake.        

Stop by on Friday, June 1 from 5 a.m. - 2 p.m. This is the fourth year the Lake County Sheriff's Office will participate in the statewide event to help raise money and awareness for Special Olympics, according to statement from the LCSO.

Deputy David McNichol, who heads up the campaign for the LCSO, hopes to break last year's fund raising record of $2,682. 

All patrons making a donation will receive a free donut. Those making a $10 donation or more will receive a coffee mug. Other items available also include Special Olympic Torch Run T-shirts and hats, which can be purchased for $15.  The Special Olympic Torch Run will be held on June 9.

"Our Deputies continually volunteer their time for community causes and this is yet another example of their dedication to Lake County residents,” said Sheriff Mark Curran.
