Alcohol played a role in a crash that took the life of a 20-year-old Gurnee man early Thursday morning, according to the Lake County Coroner.
Coroner Thomas Rudd identified the victim as Lance Nazario. He said Nazario was driving the car that police said left Route 41 and crashed into trees and rolled over north of Westleigh Road in Lake Forest.
He was not wearing a seatbelt, Rudd said.
“Preliminary study shows [his blood-alcohol level] was above the legal limit,” Rudd said.
Nazario’s death was caused by blunt force trauma, predominantly to his head and chest, Rudd said.
Lake Forest police said officers and paramedics responded to a single-car crash involving a four-door sedan at 2:35 a.m. Oct. 10
Two other occupants of the vehicle were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive, according to the police department.
Editor's Note: The spelling of the victim's last name was changed from Nacario to Nazario. We regret the error.
