Defense Attorney: Round Lake Beach Man Coerced Into Murder Confession

A defense attorney said Tuesday during a court hearing his 19-year-old client accused of shooting and killing a Zion teen outside a Round Lake Beach convenience store in March was coerced by police to confess to the crime, according to the Daily Herald. 

Jose Garcia, of Mundelein, is accused of killing Gabriel Gonzalez, 18, outside the One Stop Food and Liquor store on Fairfield Road, according to the article. Garcia along with a fellow gang member, Jose Rebollar-Vergara, 25, of Round Lake Park, each face three charges of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, according to the Daily Herald.
