Fire Damages Gurnee Condo Building

Crews from 15 local departments battled the fire Sunday.

Crews from 15 local fire departments battled a blaze Sunday afternoon in Gurnee, the Daily Herald reported.

According to the Daily Herald, the fire occurred on the 1700 block of West Walnut in a middle unit of a six-unit condo building. The building is located in the Woodland Hills subdivision off of Washington Street.

Three firefighters—two from Gurnee and one from Newport Township—were injured while battling the fire, according to the Daily Herald. A Gurnee fire official told the Daily Herald that it appears the fire started near the furnace or hot water heater.
