Former Frederick PTO President Charged with Pot Possession

Katherine Rasmussen told authorities she didn't realize the marijuana was in her purse when she entered the Lake County Courthouse May 29 for a pre-trial hearing for Elizabeth Bako, reported the Lake County News-Sun.

While in court last month for a pre-trial hearing for former Frederick School PTO treasurer Elizabeth Bako, who is accused of felony theft, the former PTO president, Katherine Rasmussen, found herself in hot water when a search of her purse revealed a small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe, reported the Lake County News-Sun.

Rasmussen was charged May 29 with possession of less than 2.5 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia and will be arraigned July 15, according to the News-Sun. Rasmussen told authorities she was using marijuana to ease nausea from chemotherapy.

Elizabeth Bako, who has plead not guilty to two counts of felony theft for allegedly stealing from the Frederick PTO, is due back in court July 9.
