Former Frederick PTO Treasurer Charged with Theft Could be Trial-Bound

Elizabeth Bako, of Grayslake, is charged with felony theft, accused of stealing money from the Frederick School PTO.

Former Frederick School PTO treasurer Elizabeth Bako, 40, of Woodland Drive, Grayslake, appeared in Lake County Circuit Court Oct. 18 for a status of preliminary hearing.

According to the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk's Office, Bako is due back in court at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 29 for another preliminary hearing to determine probable cause and decide whether her case will go to trial.

Bako is charged with two counts of felony theft. One count is for theft of $10,000 to $100,000. The second count is for theft of $500 to $10,000, according to the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk's Office.

Last month, the Lake County News-Sun reported Bako was accused of stealing from the Frederick School PTO between April 2011 and May 2012, while she was serving as treasurer.

Bako remains free on $2,500 bond. A prosecutor has yet to be assigned to the criminal case because it is still under felony review, according to the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk's Office.

I appreciate all the info on these situations at D46 I really do. But can we please see some D46 stories about the kids locally too? There are tons of events going on. International night is tonight at Avon Elementary, that would make for a great story even, as one prime example. Heck, if Patch has any freelance budgeting available, I'd be more than happy to give lengthy features on the positives going on at these schools each month. Just a thought. Thanks.

The people of this community should know the good, bad and the ugly. This community is all about who knows who and the good old boy network. Its time to have some well educated fiscally responsible people working towards better education and better communities to live in. Grayslake in stuck in the 1970's !

This is an excellent article, like it or not it provides the information that people in the district have a right to be provided. Some may disagree with the priority or timing of this publication over some of lesser impact stories but it was created by Ms Bakos transgressions. From what I've read from this particular Patch reporter she's very impartial in her reporting and appropriately encompasses and prioritizes area news .I would think that if Patch needed freelancers they would be soliciting qualified one's.
