Former PTO Treasurer Could Get Plea Deal

Elizabeth Bako, who is accused of stealing thousands from the Frederick School PTO, appeared in court Wednesday.

Former Frederick School PTO treasurer Elizabeth Bako, 41, of Grayslake, may avoid going to trial if attorneys on both sides can work out a plea deal involving restitution, reports the Lake County News-Sun.

Bako is charged with two counts of felony theft, one for theft of $10,000 to $100,000 and the other for theft of $500 to $10,000. She has also been charged with two counts of unlawful purchase with a credit or debit card, according to the Lake County Circuit Clerk's Office.

The incidents allegedly occurred between April 2011 and May 2012 while Bako was serving as treasurer of the Frederick School PTO. The Grayslake resident pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing Dec. 5.

Bako is due back in court May 29, according to the News-Sun.
