No one was injured when a truck carrying 800 gallons of diesel fuel caught fire at the Countryside landfill in Grayslake Monday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District responded to the landfill, which is located between Route 83 and Route 137 north of Peterson Road, at 4:40 p.m. after a truck driver called to report the vehicle had "backfired, stalled and the engine compartment caught fire," the Daily Herald reports.

The blaze caused a plume of black smoke and 3,000 gallons of a water/foam mixture was needed to extinguish the fire, according to the article.
