Glenview Deputy Police Chief to be New Grayslake Chief

Mayor Rhett Taylor is set to appoint Phillip Perlini as Grayslake's top cop during Tuesday's village board meeting.

The search for a new Chief of Police in Grayslake is over, as Mayor Rhett Taylor has announced he will recommend Glenview's Phillip Perlini for the job.

Perlini, currently Deputy Chief of Police for Glenview, has more than 32 years experience in law enforcement, according to a statement from the Village of Grayslake. He started in Park Ridge as a telecommunicator, and then became a Hoffman Estates police officer in 1983. He joined the Glenview Police Department as a patrol officer in 1984.

During his 27 years with Glenview, he was promoted to police sergeant, commander and to his current position as Deputy Police Chief, according to a release from the Village of Grayslake.

Iin Glenview, Perlini was involved in all phases of police operations from patrol to department management. His management duties included assignments as commander of patrol; commander of support services; and commander of investigations. His current position involves management across all department functions and including budgeting and labor negotiations.

Former Lindenhurst Chief of Police Jack McKeever has been serving as the acting chief in Grayslake after McCutcheon resigned. Perlini is expected to be appointed during the .

“Grayslake is fortunate to be able to add Mr. Perlini to the Village’s management team," Taylor said. "His extensive experience in all police operations makes him an ideal candidate for the Village of Grayslake Police Department. I am confident he will continue, and build upon, the quality police services we provide to the citizens and businesses of Grayslake as well as our neighbors in Hainesville.”

Perlini has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from National Louis University and a Masters of Organizational Leadership from Dominican University, according to a release from the Village of Grayslake. He is a certified firefighter/EMT and has been a paid on call firefighter with the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District since 2001.
