Grayslake hired former Lindenhurst Police Chief Jack McKeever to serve as acting police chief, the village announced late Wednesday morning.
McKeever begins his duties today and is taking over for Chief Matthew McCutcheon, who is on administrative leave after being charged with DUI.
McKeever's "years of experience as a police chief in our area makes Jack well suited to assist Grayslake," Mayor Rhett Taylor said in a written statement. "Our police department staff provides outstanding service to the Grayslake and Hainesville communities and the new acting chief will help ensure that this continues uninterrupted.”
McKeever was Linderhurst’s police chief from 1993 until his retirement in 2011, according to the statement. His background includes a bachelor's degree in philosophy, a master's degree in theology, and a master's degree in public administration. He is past president of the Lake County Chief’s Association.
