Grayslake Man Pleads Guilty to Attemped Child Sex Assault

A Grayslake man plead guilty Tuesday to attempted predatory child sexual assault for an incident that occurred last May.
Eric Hopkins, 41, was charged with multiple counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse after his now ex-wife caught him trying to commit a sex act with a 9-year-old girl in their Grayslake bedroom, reported the Lake County News-Sun.
Hopkins agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of attempted predatory criminal sexual assault before Lake County Judge Victoria Rossetti in an effort to get a reduced jail sentence, reported the Daily Herald.

Hopkins, who could get probation or four to 15 years in prison along with registering as a sex offender, will be sentenced Jan. 14, according to the Lake County News-Sun. He remains at the Lake County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bond.
