UPDATE: Grayslake District 127 Mourning Loss of Student

Police are still investigating a fatal accident which claimed the life of 16-year-old Alex Blouch Thursday night.

Update, 3:31 p.m. Friday: Grayslake Community High School District 127 has released a statement about Alex Blouch, who was identified as the 16-year-old boy who died after being struck by a car in Mundelein Thursday night. 

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said results of an autopsy on Friday revealed that Blouch, a Grayslake resident, died of multiple traumatic injuries.

Blouch was reportedly struck and killed by a 2009 Honda SUV driven by an 18-year-old Gurnee man, according to the Lake County News-Sun.

Blouch, who was a member of the Grayslake Central junior varsity lacrosse team, was described as "a very hard working player who was extremely passionate about the game of lacrosse."

Here is the full text of the district's statement:

"The D127 school community is pulling together to support family and community members as we deal with tragic news of the death of GCHS junior Alex Blouch.

Our hearts and prayers are with the family and we are working together to support the Blouch family, students and staff. The GCHS Crisis Team met today and members of the counseling department as well as teachers and administrators will be available to support students throughout the upcoming weeks. Please check the school website for a list of available support services at http://central.d127.org.

Alex was an active member of the junior varsity lacrosse team and is described by Coach Steve Lavigne as “a very hard working player who was extremely passionate about the game of lacrosse and had earned the respect of everyone on the team.” Alex had earned the GCHS JV Lacrosse Team’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. 

The District will continue to offer support and assistance for members of our school family as we all pull together to move forward together in the midst of this sad loss."

Update, 12:35 p.m. Friday

An autopsy was expected to be conducted Friday afternoon on a Grayslake teen who was struck and killed by a 2009 Honda SUV driven by an 18-year-old Gurnee man in Mundelein Thursday night, reported the Lake County News-Sun. There are no charges pending against the driver, according to the story.

16-year-old Grayslake boy died Thursday night after being hit by a vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. on Route 45, south of University Drive in Mundelein, reported the Daily Herald.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, may have been riding a skateboard and listening to music on an MP3 player at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation, according to the Daily Herald.
