Lake Co. Sheriff's Office Goes Online to Solve Crimes

Like the Lake County IL Sheriff's Office on Facebook and help them solve a string of recent burglaries.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is now on Facebook, and they plan on using it to help them solve area crimes.

The department went live Friday in hopes of using the tool to provide more efficient and up-to-date information to Lake County residents on area crimes, road closures, police activity and more.

Already the department has posted a series of photos of several burglaries in Lake County. The Criminal Investigation Division is asking for tips in identifying the subjects in the pictures.

Over the next few months the department also plans to use Twitter and the goverment website.

“Effective 21st Century policing mandates that we have as much contact with the community as possible.  Facebook is a form of social media that will help us accomplish our goals of being the most accessible agency that we can be,” said Sheriff Mark Curran.
