Man with Local Ties Missing Since Friday

Nick Steward, 33, of Lake Villa, has been missing since Sept. 20. He is a Libertyville High School grad.

Police are seeking information about a Lake Villa man who went missing last week.

The man, Nick Steward, 33, has been missing since Sept. 20, said his friend, Kristin Vole.

"He called his wife to tell her he was on his way home from work but never made it there," said Vole.

Steward, a Libertyville High School grad and former Vernon Hills resident, was driving a 2008 white Saturn Aura with the Illinois license plate No. 563 7543. He was traveling on I-294 and passed through the Touhy Avenue toll at 5:32 p.m., according to the flier released by Steward's family and friends.

The Daily Herald reports that a signal from Steward's cell phone was detected on South River Road in Des Plaines Friday night but the phone has since been off.

Vole said family and friends organized a search party out of Vernon Hills over the weekend, but "after searching, we still have not come (up) with any leads."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lake Villa Police Department at (847) 356-6106.
