Jerry Hobbs will receive $6 million related to his wrongful conviction in the murder of his daughter and her friend.

Jerry Hobbs will receive $6 million in a settlement of a lawsuit stemming from his wrongful conviction in the murder of his daughter and her friend, the Chicago Tribune reported.

DNA cleared Hobbs and linked another man, Jorge Torrez, to the 2004 stabbing deaths of Laura Hobbs, 8 and her friend Krystal Tobias, 9 in Zion. The Tribune reported that Torrez is serving five life sentences related to other attacks on women.

The Sun-Times reported that Hobbs had confessed to the killings after a 20-hour interrogation by investigators. In his lawsuit, Hobbs alleged that he was punched by one investigator and knocked to the floor by another and threatened.
