Nobody Injured in School Bus vs. SUV Crash at Route 134 and Wilson Road

The accident involved a 1998 GMC Jimmy SUV and a 2006 Chevrolet 3500 bus, owned by KIDSUCCESS day care of Fox Lake.

No injuries were reported in an accident Monday afternoon involving a school bus and an SUV at Route 134 and Wilson Road near Ingleside.

Sgt. Christopher Thompson of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said the accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. Monday. A 1998 GMC Jimmy SUV driven by a 77-year-old man from Long Lake was traveling southbound on Wilson Road and attempted to turn east onto Route 134. A 2006 Chevrolet 3500 bus owned by KIDSUCCESS day care of Fox Lake, driven by a 37-year-old woman, was traveling northbound on Wilson Road.

"That's when the collision occurred," Thompson said, noting that police are still trying to determine the details of the crash.

The SUV rolled over onto its side, he said.

Five children, ages 5-11 from Big Hollow School, were on the bus and were not injured, Thompson said. They have all been picked up by their parents, he added.

The driver of the SUV, along with his 15-year-old grandson, were treated and released at the scene. The bus driver, who is pregnant, was taken to Advocate Condell in Libertyville as a precautionary measure, Thompson said.

"The accident is still under investigation and citations could be pending," he said.
