He started in Park Ridge as a telecommunicator, and then became a Hoffman Estates police officer in 1983. He joined the Glenview Police Department as a patrol officer in 1984.

"Working for Glenview, he is already familiar with our dispatch system because the Grayslake system is handled out of Glenview," said Mayor Rhett Taylor. "Mr. Perlini is a long-time resident of Lake County and familiar with our community. And, he is endorsed by former Grayslake Police Chief Larry Herzog."

Perlini's first job was as a dispatcher in Park Ridge when he was 18, working for Herzog.

"Larry is a great man, and he was a great boss in Park Ridge," Perlini said. "He told me what a great place Grayslake is."

Perlini said he doesn't have any plans for big changes in the department, but knows what style he wants to see.

"I like police work to be delivered in a personal manner," he said. "This town deserves that."

Perlini currently lives in Round Lake, but plans to move into Grayslake. He is married and has five children.

"We are excited to have Mr. Perlini join us," said Taylor.
