Police Blotter: Alcohol, Drug Arrests

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Grayslake Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Alcohol

Andrea Avila, 23, of 1406 Turnbull Drive, Round Lake Beach, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Jun3 22 near West Main Street and West Route 120. Avila was also cited for DUI over .08, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, not having a valid drivers license, failure to wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt, and driving without lights when required. Avila was released on $3,000 bond pending a July 16 court date.

Jackie A. Smalley, 45, of 353 N. Lake St., Grayslake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 24 on the 100 block of North Lake Street. She was released on her drivers license and $1,000 bond pending a July 16 court date.

Kelly Garcia, 23, of 24862 W. Orchard Place, Round Lake Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 30 near Rollins Road and Carillon Drive. She was also cited for DUI over .08, improper lane usage and speeding. She was released on $1,000 bond pending a July 23 court date.

Drugs

Daniel E. LaLond, 19, of 111 Park Ave., Grayslake, was charged with controlled substance: manufacture/deliver June 29 near Park Avenue and Whitney Street. He was also cited for possession of controlled substance - heroin, delivery of a controlled substance and illegal possession/consumption - under 21 years old. He was taken to the Lake County Courthouse. 

Traffic

Michael H. Rivera, 38, of 1912 16th Ave., Rockford, was charged with driving with a suspended/revoked drivers license June 21 near East Route 120 and South Atkinson Road. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on $1,500 bond pending a July 17. 

Linda M. Sheehan, 60, of 136 Burton St., Grayslake, was charged with disobeying a traffic control device June 25 near North Route 83 and North Lake Street. She was also cited for making an improper turn. She was released on a notice to appear in court July 17.

Zamudio Rodriguez, 24, of 125 E. Pineview Drive, Hainesville, was charged with license suspended/revoked June 26 on the 100 block of North Hainesville Road. He was released on $1,500 bond pending a July 17 court date.

Clyde L. Johnson, 36, of 145 Glen St. Unit 2F, Grayslake, was charged with driving with a suspended/revoked drivers license July 1 near East Route 120 and South Route 83. He was also cited for failure to wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt. He was released on $1,500 bond pending a July 17 court date.

Matthew T. VonAsten, 27, of 1400 Hunters Ridge Drive, Genoa City, was charged with driving with a suspended/revoked drivers license July 2 near Highland Road and Pierce Court. He was also cited for speeding. He was released on $1,500 bond pending an Aug. 21 court date. 

Maria R. Velazquez, 49, of 536 Arbor Drive, Grayslake, was charged with driving with a suspended/revoked drivers license July 2 near North Hainesville Road and Patriot Drive. She was released on $1,500 bond pending a July 17 court date.
