Update, 9:58 p.m.: Police confirmed Thursday night that they have located the car belonging to Nick Steward of Lake Villa, WGN Chicago is reporting.

Police found the car while responding to an unrelated call, according to WGN

The Lake County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday night that a vehicle matching the description of Steward's vehicle was found by a Vernon Hills police officer at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

"The vehicle was taken to a secure location and is being searched for any potential evidence," according to a Lake County Sheriff's Office press release. "At this time, law enforcement is considering all theories and the search for Nicolas Steward is still underway."

The car, a white 2008 Saturn Aura, was located in an apartment complex parking lot on the 900 block of Westmoreland in Vernon Hills. A flatbed tow truck towed the car away just before 8 p.m.

K-9 units from Lake and McHenry Counties could be seen in the area as a Countryside Fire Protection District ladder truck provided light on an adjacent field.

A dispatch alert at 7:47 p.m. confirmed that police were conducting a search in the area of Westmoreland and Route 83 and that they were "searching for a Lake Villa man."

Steward, 33, went missing Sept. 20 during his drive home from Wood Dale to Lake Villa.
