Police Offer Advice for Keeping Kids Safe from Online Predators

Several recent incidents in Lake County have highlighted the dangers for children online.

The internet can be a scary place for parents to let their children roam.

Just this month nearby, police have arrested adults for setting up meetings for sexual encounters with teens, as well as two teens for sexting illicit photos and videos of classmates.

With that in mind, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lincolnshire Police Department are teaming up to offer parents a presentation on keeping their kids safe online at 7 p.m. May 27 at Lincolnshire Village Hall, according to an article in the Deerfield Review.

The article offers tips from law enforcement for parents who can’t attend the session, such as taking mobile devices out of children’s rooms at night since those are prime hours for internet predators.
