Round Lake Girl, 9, Drowns in Fox Lake
The incident occurred near a boat launch Tuesday evening.
A 9-year-old Round Lake girl drowned Tuesday in Fox Lake.
Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Sara Balmes said police were called to the 36000 block of Stanton Point Road in Ingleside at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The girl, whose name is being withheld pending proper notification, was swimming near a boat launch on Fox Lake with other children when she went under the water, Balmes said.
Adults entered the water to pull her out. The girl was pronounced dead at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, Balmes said.
The incident is under investigation.
