South Barrington Boy Injured After Mundelein Store Awning Collapses

The accident happened just before noon on Saturday outside King David's Airsoft and Hobbies at 1432 S. Butterfield Road, according to media reports.

A Lake Barrington boy needed 18 staples to treat a head injury after an awning at a Mundelein hobby shop fell on him while he was window shopping with his brother and two friends over the weekend, ABC 7 Chicago reports.

All four children were hit by the awning but 10-year-old Cameron Beers was the most seriously injured following the collapse, which happened just before noon on Saturday at King David's Airsoft and Hobbies, 1432 S. Butterfield Road in Mundelein, according to media reports.

ABC 7 Chicago reports the boy's father, James Beer, was watching the children from his car and rushed out to help when the awning fell.

The owner of King David's Airsoft and Hobbies, David Tsao, told NBC Chicago he rents the building and said his awning, as well as others in the mall were in "bad condition and old."
